Mark E. Ellis
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer

Biography

Mark E. Ellis is the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of LINN Energy, LLC. LINN Energy's mission is to acquire, develop and maximize cash flow from a growing portfolio of long-life oil and natural gas assets. The company's core focus areas are the Mid-Continent, Permian Basin, Williston Basin, Michigan and California.

Mr. Ellis has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry. He joined LINN Energy in December 2006 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer in December 2007, President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2010 and his current role in December 2011.

Before joining LINN, Mr. Ellis served as President of the Lower 48 for ConocoPhillips. Prior to joining ConocoPhillips, he served as Senior Vice President of North American Production for Burlington Resources. He first joined Burlington Resources in 1985 and served in roles of increasing responsibility, including President of Burlington Resources Canada Ltd. in Calgary, Vice President and Chief Engineer, Vice President of the San Juan Division, and Manager of Acquisitions. He began his career at The Superior Oil Company, where he served in several engineering positions in the onshore and offshore divisions.

Mr. Ellis holds a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He serves on the boards of America's Natural Gas Alliance, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Industry Board of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University, and Visiting Committee of Petroleum Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. He is also a past board member of the New Mexico Oil & Gas Association and previously served on the Board of Governors of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.

Michael C. Linn
Director and Founder

Biography

Michael C. Linn is the President of MCL Ventures, LLC, an investment company. He also serves as Director and Founder on the Board of Directors of LINN Energy, LLC (Nasdaq: LINE), where he previously served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer as well as Executive Chairman. Mr. Linn founded LINN Energy in 2003, and the company became the first publicly traded E&P partnership in 2006.

Mr. Linn serves on the National Petroleum Council and the board of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA). He was named 2011 IPAA Chief Roughneck of the Year, serves as Chairman of the IPAA Political Action Committee and is a former IPAA Chairman. Mr. Linn is a Texas Representative for the Legal and Regulatory Affairs Committee of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. He was previous chairman and currently serves on the Natural Gas Council. He also served as Director of the Natural Gas Supply Association and President of the Independent Oil and Gas Associations of New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Mr. Linn graduated cum laude from Villanova University with a BA in Political Science and cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law. His civic affiliations include serving on the board of trustees for the Texas Heart Institute, Texas Children's Hospital and Museum of Fine Arts Houston. He serves on the board of directors for Houston Children's Charity and the Houston Police Foundation. In addition, he serves on the MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors, the Dean's Executive Advisory Board for the University of Houston C.T. Bauer College of Business, and Rice University's Jones Graduate School of Business Council of Overseers.

David D. Dunlap
Independent Director

Biography

David D. Dunlap is President and Chief Executive Officer of Superior Energy Services, a position he has held since April 2010. Superior Energy Services serves the oil and natural gas industry worldwide through its drilling products and services, subsea and intervention technologies and broad-ranging marine services. Prior to joining Superior, Mr. Dunlap was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for BJ Services Company. During a 25-year career with BJ Services he served in a variety of engineering, operations, and management positions including President of the company’s International Division and Vice President of Division Sales.

Mr. Dunlap is a member of the Board of Directors of LINN Energy, Texas A&M University Petroleum Engineering Industry Board, The John Cooper School Board of Trustees, the Board of Directors of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and The Woodlands Children’s Museum Board of Directors. Mr. Dunlap graduated from Texas A&M University in 1984 with a BS in Petroleum Engineering. He has authored numerous technical papers and articles during his career on topics of formation damage, stimulation, completions and reservoir conformance.

Stephen J. Hadden
Independent Director

Biography

Mr. Hadden has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, having served in various management roles for Texaco Inc., now Chevron Corporation, and more recently as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Exploration and Production for Devon Energy Corporation from July 2004 until March 2009. Previously, Mr. Hadden was a director with Berry Petroleum Company from February 2011 until its merger with LINN and served on its audit and corporate governance and nominating committees. Mr. Hadden also served on the following entities: The Advisory Board of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Upstream Committee of the American Petroleum Institute, the Allied Arts Board and the Oklahoma City Petroleum Club Board.

Joseph P. McCoy
Independent Director

Biography

Mr. McCoy has over 30 years of oil and gas experience spanning diverse segments within the industry, including exploration and production, mining, pipelines and transportation and crude oil marketing. Notably he has over 15 years of experience as a senior finance officer for large publicly traded corporations and most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Burlington Resources. Prior to Burlington, Mr. McCoy was Vice President and Controller of Vastar Resources, a multi-billion dollar exploration, production and marketing company that was a partial spin-off from ARCO and ultimately sold to British Petroleum. He began his career with ARCO in 1974 and served as Assistant Controller and later Vice President, Finance, Planning and Control for ARCO Alaska in 1989. Mr. McCoy is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Masters degree in accounting and an MBA from Northeastern University and a Bachelors degree in economics from College of the Holy Cross. He also serves on the Board of Rancher Energy Corporation, where he is Chairman of the Audit Committee. In addition, he is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and a former member of the Boards for the Anchorage Boys & Girls Club and Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.

Jeffrey C. Swoveland
Independent Director

Biography

Mr. Swoveland has served as Chief Financial Officer of Body Media, a life-science company specializing in the design and development of wearable body monitoring products and services, since September 2000. Mr. Swoveland served as Vice President-Finance and Treasurer of Equitable Resources, Inc., a diversified natural gas company, from July 1999 to September 2000. He served as Interim Chief Financial Officer of Equitable Resources, Inc. from October 1997 to July 1999. Mr. Swoveland currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Petroleum Development Corporation.
