Linn Energy Hires Thomas A. Lopus as Senior Vice President-Operations

PITTSBURGH, April 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Linn Energy, LLC (Nasdaq: LINE) today announced the appointment of Thomas A. Lopus as Senior Vice President-Operations of its wholly owned subsidiary Linn Operating, Inc. Mr. Lopus' career in the industry spans over 25 years and includes senior management positions at Equitable Resources, Inc., where he was responsible for all natural gas and oil operations, and FINA, where he was in charge of all operations in the United States. In his new role, Mr. Lopus will oversee all of the Company's drilling and production, engineering, land and geology operations and report directly to Michael C. Linn, President and Chief Executive Officer of Linn Energy and Linn Operating.

"Tom has an extensive background in operations and acquisitions, both inside and outside the Appalachian Basin," said Mr. Linn. "Having previously run the largest natural gas and oil operation in the Appalachian Basin and with considerable experience elsewhere in the United States, his involvement in acquiring and integrating new properties will be a key ingredient to the success of our growth strategy. Mr. Lopus is a registered petroleum engineer and received a Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. In addition, he has held leadership positions in many industry and civic organizations, including the Independent Petroleum Association of America ("IPAA"), Society of Petroleum Engineers ("SPE"), American Petroleum Institute ("API"), United Way and March of Dimes.

In addition, Curtis L. Tipton has been named Vice President-Gathering and Marketing of Penn West Pipeline, LLC (formerly known as Chipperco, LLC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Linn Energy, which owns and operates a network of natural gas gathering systems. Mr. Tipton had served as Vice President- Operations since joining the Company in April 2005.

Linn Energy has also accepted the resignation of Gerald W. Merriam to pursue other opportunities. Mr. Merriam had served as Executive Vice President-Engineering Operations since joining the Company in April 2003.
