East Texas

LINN’s east Texas region consists of properties located in east Texas and primarily produces natural gas from the Cotton Valley formation and the Haynesville/Bossier Shale.

In early 2012, LINN acquired properties located in the Overton Field that primarily produce natural gas from the Cotton Valley formation. In December 2013, LINN further added to its east Texas position by acquiring additional Cotton Valley formation properties as well as Haynesville/Bossier Shale properties through the acquisition of Berry Petroleum Company, LLC. LINN’s east Texas wells produce at depths ranging from 7,000 to 13,500 feet.

Proved reserves for these mature, low-decline producing properties, all of which are proved developed, represented approximately three percent of total proved reserves at December 31, 2013. This region produced 22 MMcfe/d or three percent of the Company’s 2013 average daily production. During 2014, the Company anticipates spending approximately one percent of its total oil and natural gas capital budget for development activities in the east Texas region.
